Ecocast is one of the biggest worm farms in New Zealand offering renewable and sustainable biowaste management solutions for industry and councils and offering soil remediation services, vermicast, compost and fertilizing products for agriculture and horticulture industries.
Our “workforce” of Tiger worms and Southern worms, numbered at approximately 400 million (Jan 2013) and increasing exponentially, happily process biosolids from local industry and councils, mixed with pulp waste (wood fibre) from the paper mills, all of which has historically gone to landfill, and turn it into nutrient rich, useful vermicast, compost and fertiliser.
This is not only a more sustainable, environmentally conscience practice for industry to help reduce their carbon footprint but the product produced can then be applied to maize crops, orchards and pasture to increase healthy growth and nutrient uptake. The product has passed as AA grade as defined in the guidelines for the safe application of Biosolids to Land in New Zealand. (NZWWA 2003)
